As you know I’m a big Apple fanboy and, sad as this may be, I look forward to Steve Jobs’ keynotes the way I look forward to a big summer movie or new album from my favorite band. This years WWDC was no different. Trouble is I can’t help feeling a little let down. Whilst the content itself was up to its usual standard it was the lack of any real surprises that did me in. The entire world had pretty much guessed that a 3G iPhone was on the way as it made perfect business sense. We knew he would talk about the SDK and the new App Store as it was, after all, a developers conference. It stood to reason also that there would be a price drop; after all they want it to become more mass market and they did just the same with the iPOD. As for MobileMe… yep it was nice I suppose…
So I guess I was sort of hoping for that ‘just one more thing’ moment… when he pulled out the new iPhone design, a design that somehow bettered the first version, indeed made the original look a bit old fashioned (remember how we felt when he did that with the first nano?). Or with all the talk of the iPhone being a new platform along with OS X and Windows that maybe we’d see a new sub notebook / tablet / big iPhone pad type thing.
I dunno maybe I just listen to Macbreak Weekly and TWIT too much.
